Changes to GCR1 Sunday Schedule

Notice to Listeners and Rebroadcasters:

Recently, John Sullivan, host of Skeptical Sunday, announced that he was ending production of his program. This means that there is a new lineup in place on GCR1 from 10 PM to Midnight Eastern on Sundays.

Effective immediately, we will be expanding our radio/media block to three hours on Sunday with the addition of Wavescan and This Week in Radio News. At 11 PM Eastern, we retain the program Freethought Radio, which was a popular feature on Skeptical Sunday. At 11:45, we are adding a new weekly feature called The Radio Kid's Rant!. This is a mini rant from The Radio Kid of Clearing the Static. The rant will be about topics that are not radio or media related. We think this will make for an interesting way to wrap up your weekend listening!

As always, please feel free to submit your feedback about our programming. It is very much appreciated.

Programming Changes to GCR1

Notice to our listeners and partner stations:

It has become necessary to make changes to the program schedule of Global Community Radio Channel One. These changes are being implemented because some of our programs have ended production.

We regret to inform you that the long running environmental news magazine program Sierra Club Radio has ended production due to lack of funding for future programs. We had been carrying Sierra Club as far back as 2011 as part of Geneva Community Radio, so, we're sorry to see this outstanding program come to such an abrupt end.

Also, the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) has cancelled two of its weekly programs that we had been running. The List, a program about popular culture, and, The Media Report, focusing on various aspects of global media, are no longer available. Again, we're sorry to lose these excellent programs. We hope that more program cuts from the ABC are not forthcoming, though it seems to be the new normal, as funding from the Australian government for this outstanding public broadcaster shrinks more and more each year!

On Mondays at 10 AM Eastern, we are bringing back to the GCR schedule (the show aired on the former Geneva Community Radio) Liberation Radio, the weekly radio program and podcast produced by the Party for Socialism and Liberation. We sincerely hope that everyone will listen to this program with an open mind, and that all who listen will find its contents to be informative.

We are moving some shows around to ensure a better "flow" of our programming. For example, we're moving the ABC's Download This Show to our Tuesday Science and Technology block. We are moving The Allegheny Front to our Thursday environmental block. The program Person, Place, Thing, from WAMC/National Productions, is moving to Wednesdays at 2:35 PM Eastern, immediately following Eyes On Success. New Letters on the Air shifts to Sundays at 2:30 PM, with Writer's Voice shifting to Sundays at 3 PM Eastern. This will be followed at 4 PM by a brand new show to the GCR1 lineup. The Future of What, a program about the music industry for insiders and non-insiders alike.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience these unforeseen program changes may cause. As always, it's a situation we have absolutely no control over.

As always, your feedback about our programming is appreciated. We will always strive to present as diverse a program schedule as we possible. Thanks for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Jason Longwell
