Dear Global Community Radio Partner Stations:
Global Community Radio prides itself on offering top quality, fully hosted programming to its partner stations. GCR also tries to air programs and series' that are current, with new shows being produced frequently. To that end, we are proud to announce some changes to our Saturday lineup of nostalgic music programs on GCR2 which we feel you and your listeners will enjoy.
Most of the changes are effective August 20th, we will be dropping the Radiola! program. We're sad to lose this outstanding program of vintage recordings. Unfortunately, it appears the show is no longer in production. If new episodes become available at some point in the future, and there is room on the schedule, we would not rule out returning Radiola! to our Saturday lineup.
At 8 AM Eastern, Global Community Radio is pleased to be adding another outstanding program playing music of the 1920s and 30s. The show, Rapidly Rotating Records, is hosted by Glenn Robison, and originates at community station KISL in Avalon, California. We look forward to adding this one hour weekly one hour radio program to our schedule, and we feel your listeners who enjoyed Radiola! will like RRR.
We are shifting the rest of our Saturday morning programming back one hour. So the new schedule looks like this. All times Eastern

10:00 Fabulous 50's Radio Show
11:00 The Swinging 60's
To consolidate things, and to make the music "flow" better, we are shifting Paul Peters' The Pirate Years show to start at Noon Eastern, with Stuck in the Psychedelic Era staying in its current time slot at 1 PM.
At 3 PM Eastern, GCR2 is pleased to announce yet another new addition to our Saturday lineup. Rockin' in the Days of Confusion if a new show presented by "The Hermit" of Stuck in the Psychedelic Era. This show focuses on deeper album rock from the late 60s through the late 70s. If your listeners enjoy Classic Rock, but hate the boring repetition that has become so typical of commercial Classic Rock radio, they are sure to enjoy this new hour long show.
The remainder of our Saturday lineup, and the lineup for the rest of the week on GCR2 remains unchanged.
We hope you and your listeners will enjoy the new lineup, and we apologize for any inconveniences these changes may cause to your station's program schedule.

GCR Welcomes New Partner Station in Ohio
Global Community Radio is pleased to welcome another partner station to our ever growing family.
This time, we say hello to listeners in Columbus, Ohio, who will now be treated to GCR2's diverse music programming on WGRN "The Green Renaissance" at 94.1 on the FM dial.
Currently, WGRN will rebroadcast GCR2 every Saturday from 1PM to Midnight Eastern. They have also expressed interest in possibly using more GCR programming in the future.
We welcome WGRN, and look forward to serving the Columbus community with eclectic music they won't hear anywhere else on the local radio dial.

Global Community Radio Welcomes New Partner Station in Upstate New York
Global Community Radio is pleased to welcome yet another partner station. This time, we say hello to our new listeners in the Rochester, New York metro on brand new community station WXIR-LP "Extreme Independent Radio" a new radio service from the folks at Rochester Community Media. Listeners in Rochester can hear select hours of programming from both GCR1 and GCR2 seven days a week at 100.9 FM.
We sincerely hope listeners in Rochester will enjoy the programming of Global Community Radio, in addition to the wide variety of local programming that will be offered by this station.

GCR1 Gains New Internet Partner Station
Global Community Radio continues to grow, and expand its network of partner stations for both of its services. We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Wings Radio 1, an online radio service based in Lake Placid, Florida. Wings Radio 1 will use the programming of GCR1 for much of its programming day, for now, but will add local programming to serve their local communities in the not too distant future.

Changes to the GCR2 Schedule
Dear GCR Listeners and Partner Stations:
Effective in April, GCR2 will make some program changes to its GCR2 music service.
Due to personal circumstances, Raoul, the host of The Rock Pile, has had to cease production of this program. We deeply regret this, as we feel this was not just another Classic Rock show. We hope at some point that the show can resume production. Raoul will continue to host and produce Jazz From the Left, which we air on Sundays from 6 to 8 PM Eastern.
This will cause the following changes on Wednesday night/Thursday morning.
10:00 PM Dig! - A new show to GCR. A one hour program of music from the Psychedelic era produced by Delmarva Public Radio.
11:00 PM FM Odyssey - Moves one hour later.
2:00 AM Soundwave - This eclectic hour of music is moving from its former late Sunday night timeslot
The move of Soundwave from its former timeslot will allow GCR2 to bring back to its schedule the weekly Jazz/Blues/Comedy show 12th Street Jump. We had been airing this during our daytime Jazz block. However, one of our partner stations raised concerns about some of the adult content of the humor within the show. As such, we felt compelled to drop this show and replace it with Blue Dimensions, another fine music intensive Jazz product. We feel that airing 12th Street Jump Sunday nights/Monday mornings at the end of our Sunday Jazz block would be more suitable.
Another change is coming to Thursday nights on GCR2. We are discontinuing the program US Top 20.FM. This is because the show is constantly running way longer than its allotted one hour slot. This has caused concerns for some of our partner stations, especially in terms of running the required top hour station ID. We also feel this is unfair to other late Thursday night/early Friday morning programs which start much later than the listed start times on the program schedule.
We are instead going to offer listeners and partner stations a brand new show which is, for now, unique to GCR2. It's called All Popular Genres Considered. Your host is Bob Cavanaugh, a young visually impaired radio enthusiast from the Seattle area. Each week, Bob will present a wide range of popular music, with an emphasis on tunes from the 1990s to the present, but with some surprises thornw in from time to time. We feel that this new show will appeal to fans of the popular music of today and of the recent past. This show will debut April 7th at 10 PM Eastern.

More Changes to GCR Programming
Dear GCR Listeners and Partner Stations:
This seems to be a monthly routine. Once again it is necessary to make some alternations to the schedules of both GCR1 and GCR2.
Several changes to GCR1:
We are dropping Liberation Radio, as, it seems that they are not maintaining a regular weekly production schedule as was previously hoped. We are implementing a new stricter policy at GCR when it comes to programmers not supplying us with new shows in a timely manner, and on a consistent schedule. Instead, we are adding the weekly broadcast from Free Speech Radio News (FSRN) which will now air Mondays at 10 AM Eastern.
In keeping with this new policy, we're dropping This Week in Radio News from our Sunday night media block, as we haven't seen any new shows posted to their website in over a month! Sorry, guys! We're adding the weekly 15 minute audio bulletin from the American Radio Relay League, ARRL Audio News, which will offer reporting on some of the latest developments within the Amateur Radio Community. This airs Sundays at 10:30 PM Eastern. Immediately following at 10:45 Eastern, it's Skeptoid, hosted by Brian Dunning. This weekly podcast discusses popular myths and conspiracy theories, and offers strong evidence and facts which help to debunk said myths and conspiracies. This was a popular feature on the now defunct Skeptical Sunday program, and we are pleased to bring it back to the GCR schedule!
Earlier on Sunday evenings on GCR1, we are adding two new short features to our block of arts oriented programming, both hosted by Kristin Dreyer Kramer. At 6:55 PM Eastern, following Filmspotting, you can hear her weekly film reviews on Reel Discovery. One hour later, at 7:55 following Arts Express, hear her weekly review of books called Shelf Discovery.
On GCR2, we regret that we are dropping the two syndicated shows hosted by Bob Francis. Rocketman Roberts Classic Radio Show, and Vintage Gold Classics. This has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of these two shows. Unfortunately, serious concerns have arisen lately about the commercials for businesses such as GoDaddy.com, which are contained within these programs. These commercials DO NOT qualify as underwriting under the FCC's current guidelines. If we were solely an internet webcast still, there would be no issues, as we could run full blown commercials whether we were receiving payment for them or not. However, as GCR has evolved into a program service designed specifically for rebroadcast by non-commercial terrestrial broadcasters primarily based here in the US, we need to follow FCC guidelines concerning non-commercial radio to the letter of the law, whether we agree with those rules or not. So, Bob and I mutually agreed to suspend his programs from GCR for the moment. Bob has said that he may make these shows available as commercial free offerings, but, there will be a per station fee attached to carry the shows. Right now, none of our partner stations are carrying GCR2 late on Saturday afternoons when these shows would air. If, at some point, one of our current partner stations, or a new partner station, begins carrying GCR2 during these hours, and, if the stations would like to have these shows reinstated on the schedule, then we will consider purchasing these programs from Bob Francis. Watch this space for further developments.
In the meantime, we are adding The Pirate Years, another great offering from Paul Peters out of the UK, and, Saving the 70s, a program produced and hosted by Mike Walker. We hope everyone will enjoy these new shows which will air Saturdays between 4 and 6 PM Eastern.
Also, we may need to make changes to our overnight programming soon, as we received word from one of our hosts that they may soon need to cut back their production output due to a change in their personal and financial circumstances. Again, I must remind you all that most of our hosts are volunteers who do their radio shows as a true labor of love. As such, it often becomes necessary to make changes to or even cancel a radio show if drastic changes occur in their personal or professional lives. We at GCR understand this, we hope our listeners and partner stations do, too.
